[Danny rubs the back of his head sheepishly, carefully avoiding the large bruise covering one side of his face.  He looks completely exhausted, but cheerful.]

So...  I'm back at the apartment now.  Sorry if anyone was worried?

[Danny yelps and flinches back, tightly closing his eyes to hide the flash of glowing green light as the ectoplasm inside his body surges to the surface.]

[Danny clenches his fists as he forces his powers back under control.]

I've been letting you hide your secret, knowing that the others knew about it and would help keep you safe.

But I'm a ninja, Danny. I might not look like it, but I'm always on alert. With your chip out, I need to know what to expect. I don't need all the details, I don't need the nitty gritty stuff--I just need a general feel for it.

Enough that I can identify you as a friend and not as an enemy by accident. That's all I need to know.

[Danny isn't entirely sure what to think about this. Just the concept of someone not immediately assuming he was an enemy was tough to grasp. All of his instincts said deny and hide. That was how he stayed safe for the past two years after all. But.. how could you make that work in a place where half the people you knew could tell there was something wrong about you without a single word?]

....Jazz is going to kill me.

That sounds normal for an older sister to do.

[Minato pauses for a moment, then flicks his wrist to expose a kunai, catching it in his hand. He switches the grip and twirls it partway so that the handle faces Danny, not the blade. He looks down at the blade.]

This is the key to my space time techniques. These symbols here. [Minato runs his finger along the hilt, over the symbols.] I can sense them. With a thought, I can teleport to them. I don't need the kunai. Just the symbols.

[Minato glances up to Danny, attempting to catch his eyes for a moment. Then, he reaches into a pocket and pulls out a piece of chalk. In a moment, the symbols wrap around it.]

And I can put the symbols on anything--anyone--in an instant. By only touching them.

[Danny tenses as the kunai appears, not sure what the ninja was up to. It looked a bit like some of the things Valerie had hit him with before, and he had no intention of getting hit by something like that again.]

....That isn't what you said about it before.

[The teen carefully avoids eye contact.]

It's a cool technique. But... why are you telling me this?

And when Danny notices the truth, Minato smiles softly in approval. Smart kid. And as to his other question....]

Because trust goes both ways. I can't get you to trust me if I don't trust you.

[And without further explanation, Minato reaches over to point out the well hidden marker that he had used.]

That's how I got here. I sensed where you were, then used that marker to teleport here. ... but my markers can affect more than just myself.

[Danny has mixed emotions about that comment, but decides he can at least give Minato blunt honesty about this much.]

...I'm not very big on trust.

[Interesting trick, but Danny had seen much weirder. Most of the ghosts he knew had the ability to expand their area of influence to anything they touched. Still, he had the feeling he'd be keeping an eye out for those markers now.]

I noticed.

[He continues, then.]

I can teleport others with me. As small as a baby to as big as a gigantic demon. And I can teleport things seperately, to a place not bound by a marker, by holding this kunai sideways and with a few hand seals.

... I've been acting like I can only teleport myself and a few others at a time... but I can teleport far, far more than that. I can divert attacks, move them to another place far away from me. As easy as breathing. And I can be focusing on a chakra--energy attack--while teleporting simultaneously.

I've been keeping it a secret to protect those I cherish here, revealing new limits to my technique as necessary. Back home, knowing too much could make you a target. It's a bit different here, but old habits die hard.

[Minato's gaze flicks up to Danny's again, and this time he holds it there.]

You're the first person in Discedo that I've entrusted with these secrets about my Flying Thunder God Technique. And I can count the number of people that knew back home on one hand.

[Danny struggles to control his face, but parts of that struck a chord with him. Concealing what you could do, when you knew it could make you a target. All so you could be in the right place to save your family. He can't stop himself from adding a comment.]

Some habits never die.

[He sighs and turns away for a long moment as he thinks.]

I won't tell anyone. I understand why you've been hiding it. But I... What I'm hiding is more than just an ability. It makes me a target. It makes everyone who knows a target. If the wrong person ever found out it could - it would destroy my family. And that would be just the beginning. I saw what could happen. I'm not willing to let that happen.

And by wrong person I mean anyone from my world. [He laughs a little bitterly and turns away again.] Who could resist?

[And that strikes a chord with Minato. The man goes still and listens quietly. Very quietly. When he speaks, his voice is soft.]

I know how that feels.

[Minato drops his gaze.]

Someone important to me had a secret like that. The wrong people found out. ... and I lost everything.

[He looks up at Danny again, very quiet still.]

You don't need to let me in on your secret, not now. That's up to you.

But at least think of how you might tell me, quickly, in an emergency need-to-know basis. I can only absorb information as fast as it's given. If you can give me that information fast, I can use it as if I've know it all along.

And... I don't know if it's even possible to give the information fast. But, if you meet Phantom he will help. Whatever the emergency is. He can help more if he isn't being attacked by the people he's trying to help.

He will probably be wearing a black uniform with a logo on the chest. And flying.

My parents are ghost hunters. They hate ghosts. All ghosts. If they knew I was on friendly terms with a ghost I don't think they would react well.

[Minato is quiet for a moment. It doesn't quite fit. There are pieces missing, and Danny is very much alive. Just different. Much more powerful, with his chip out.

He wonders if Danny and Phantom are the same person. But Danny looks alive. Hmmmmm...]

It's understandable why you hide him. ... but can I ask one last question?
