[Danny stares at the camera with a sheepish expression on his face and his hands behind his back.]

Hey, Mom?  Look, I'm really sorry about running off without telling you.

And I'm really not looking forward to those lessons you signed me up for.  What kind of person voluntarily gets up at 5:30 anyway?

But anyway, I have something for you.

[And Danny holds up a package carefully wrapped in old paper.]

Um, Happy Mother's Day?

That's...

[No words can express how she's feeling right now, completely speechless.]

Aw, Danny.

[She wipes a tear while resting one palm of her hand on her cheek.]

I... I don't know what to say.

[Danny smiles a little embarrassedly.]

I figured we could use something to celebrate a bit.

That's very thoughtful of you, thank you so much. Well...

[She brushes up like she's putting something away.]

I'll be heading up.

[commentlog] haha nice!

[Maddie comes back looking for Danny. Mother's Day is already here. Guess Discedo kept her occupied.]

Re: [commentlog] Now I just need 50 more.

[Danny comes into the living room and smiles.]

Hey, Mom.

It's mother's day?

I figure it has to be pretty close.

Oh, ... I think you're right! It's a little worrying how easy it is to lose track of time here!

No kidding. I think it's the lack of school and holidays and all that other stuff.

There is a school though?

Not like there was at home. I mean, we don't have to go there all day long for five days a week.

From: [identity profile] idkmybffmrhat.livejournal.com
... I don't think we have to go at all.

I know, that's my point. There isn't much point in keeping track of the weekends if you don't have something to take a day off from.

... I never really about it like that. I'm glad we don't have to go though, school's boring enough at home nevermind here.

I know the feeling. And its not like tests on eighteenth century authors are going to help us out here.

Not even a little. ... They don't really help back home either.

True! I think my teacher is obsessed with them.

I wonder why. Maybe it's a personal thing?

I used to get up at 4:30 all the time! That was back in the old days though, now I'm usually up all night!

...Oh, yeah, it's Mother's Day, isn't it? Totally forgot.

Come on, that was like 100 years ago. Sane people don't wake up until 8:30 unless they have school.

Exactly!

Actually I've been up around that time a lot when I was heading around Europe. But why would you wake up at 8:30 if you could sleep 'til noon, anyway?

My sister. She had this thing about sleeping in too long being bad for my mental health or something.

The only way it could be bad is if you sleep through something fun!

Well, she's not too big on fun. She kind of thinks she's an adult.
