schrodingersghost: (this can't be good)

[The camera view spins dizzyingly as it clicks on.  You can catch brief snatches of color and frantic movements.  The camera finally slows to a halt, making the action resolve into a lone teenage boy facing off against a group of colorful puppets.  Danny is breathing harshly and judging from the number of minor injuries visible has obviously been at this for quite some time.  As the marionettes speed toward him again he tenses and and backflips several times to make some space.  As soon as he regains his feet Danny grabs the thermos from his belt, unscrewing the lid in a smooth practiced motion.  A bright light and strange high pitched sound immediately emit from the open container as Danny firmly points it at the monsters.  The light doesn't seem to have any effect, but it startles and scatters them.  Danny breathes a heavy sigh of relief as the monsters finally flee.]

That thermos. I'm pretty sure hot chocolate and it wouldn't mix.

Oh. You saw that?

[thinks quickly.]

And no, it isn't exactly that kind of thermos.

Yup. Kinda half blind now, too. [He's joking. Also, he doesn't seem all that concerned. More relieved, actually, that Danny is safe.]

I... gathered as much.

I'm teasing.

... So is a thermos a normal weapon on your world?

From: [identity profile] invisibill.livejournal.com
Not exactly? Its just one of my parent's crazy inventions. I had it on me when I ended up here.

... Your parents invented a thermos that shoots out a blast of light?

They invented a thermos that catches ghosts.

...It just happens to look like it shoots out a lot of light.

... How the heck does it capture ghosts?

And is this normal for your parents?

Sadly, yes. The thermos is probably the least weird thing they've invented.

And, no idea. I usually tried to tune out Dad when he got into his ghost blathering mode. He could go on for hours.

... Ah, parents. [He sounds a bit amused. Poor Danny probably had to deal with weird day in and day out.]

Well, at least he has a passion?

[under his breath]

More like an obsession. And Mom's just as bad.

[Minato can't help but chuckle at that. Teenagers.]

But you still love them, even if they're a bit... eccentric.

...Eccentric might be an understatement.

[Extremely embarrassed pause.]

But, yeah. They might be loons, but they're Fenton loons.

So which one of your parents do you take after, then?

From: [identity profile] invisibill.livejournal.com
...I try not to think about that too much.

[Oh maaaan, now Minato's laughing. He's not laughing at Danny, per say... just at the way he said that. And it's... well, it sounds so much like a teenage son, to put it that way.

So much like a teenage son he'll never get to know.

It's not that.

It's that... you sounded so much like a teenager for a moment. I have a teenage son myself. He's gotten exasperated at me, too.

Considering I am a teenager that isn't a big surprise.

Well, yeah.

... I just miss my son a little, is all. Thank you for reminding me for a moment what he sounded like.

Yeah, but I got to meet him here, and he was here for a while. It was nice.

Oh.

I didn't realize people's families showed up here.
