8 Ghosts [Accidental Video;English]

[It is silent in Danny's room in Horton.  The teenager himself is fast asleep, wrapped up in every spare blanket he has managed to collect and breathing softly.  The peaceful scene comes to a sudden end as a loud crash in the hallway outside startles Danny awake.  He yelps and attempts to spring into action, but gets tangled up in his blankets and falls awkwardly off the side of the bed.]

Seem to be picking them up left and right. ... Not a lot of kids have parents here, and well. Someone's gotta make sure they don't stay up all night.

That is not a good situation. Kids shouldn't be on their own.

I agree. A lot of the kids find places to stay fairly quickly, at least. But I wish it was a little more organized....

... I don't think so. The nearest thing we have is the guardian list for people that are in the primary school.

It's really troubling. Kids could be... things could be happening to kids, and we would have no way of knowing it. There's pretty much no government yet. People work together, but a lot still fend for themselves.

[Danny frowns. With no one with authority around there was nothing to stop someone like Vlad from influencing kids. He knew the kinds of problems that could come from that. But what could he do? He was just a kid himself.]
