[It starts with the sounds of harsh breathing and rapid footsteps.]

Am I safe? Did I lose them?

[A pause and a loud skidding sound followed by a thump, as Danny takes a sharp turn and ducks inside an alley.]

I mean, seriously, what is this? A creepy abandoned city? Monsters everywhere? Did someone decide to take a few cues from one of those lame horror movies? Is a little originality too much to ask for?

This is so not what I had planned for the weekend.

I would spend less time sulking and complaining and more time finding a way out of the snow.

And out of the sight and attack range of hungry wolves... And whatever else is wandering the streets today.

[S-sorry, Danny. You are talking to the oldest of old people. He doesn't do teen attitude well]

If I knew where I was and where to go I might think about doing that.

How an I supposed to know? I was a little more concerned with all the things trying to eat me.

You could try looking for the street signs.

You need not worry about monsters if you get on the right road and find an apartment.

Unless you enjoy being out in the snow.

If you tell me which street you are on, I will lead you to a safer place myself.

It would not do for you to get lost in this blizzard.

I see.

Please remain where you are.

With the monsters around here? I'm not going anywhere near them.

[ooc:sure!]

[There'd be no reply on the communicator.

Only the sound of snow crunching not too far off. As if someone had been standing there the whole time...

He wasn't hard to spot, especially not in that white backdrop. A rainbow of colors splashed over a silk kimono, the eye patterns on the sleeves and lower half staring brightly. No medicine box on his back today though, just a paper parasol to ward off the snow.

Small sort of man, only a little under five feet tall, the red markings on the otherwise bone white face certainly making for an eerie looking phantom out there.

And heading right for Danny, ever at a nice, relaxed pace. As if he couldn't even feel the cold.]

At the sound of footsteps Danny jerks to attention from the half-doze he had slipped into. He steps forward and peers out of his shadowed hiding spot.

...Okay, no way was that guy one of the monsters. He made Technus look like a snappy dresser. Were those seriously rainbows? Was this the guy he'd been talking to?

Funny, he had sure sounded sane.

[He's pretty good at sounding sane, Danny will learn that one. No problem in spotting the boy, he paused a respectful distance away, before... bowing.

Rather politely. Any words? Nope, instead, the communicator was just produced from a sleeve, and with a bit of button pressing, a message popped up on Danny's screen]

Do forgive me, but English is not my first language. It would be more effective to simply use the communicator.

Please follow me.

[Danny raises an eyebrow at the text and nods. Must be some kind of instant translator. Thankfully without the ghost gabber's problems.]

Lead the way.

[And without further ado, he simply turned.

... It was pretty clear by now that the man didn't even have on boots, tabi socks and geta sandals all that counted as protection from the snow out here. Didn't seem like he minded too much.

The text continued]

I make no promise that you may live in the room I take you to for now. One of the women that shares it may not be pleased with a new face. However, you are welcome to stay until a time where you find a better place to call your temporary home here.

[.....]

[Okay, seriously. What kind of guy wore sandals and socks in the snow? And he wasn't even shivering? This was getting weirder and weirder. Even for a kid who fought ghosts.

Danny quickly typed out a response.]

Fair enough. I'll try to get out of your hair quick. Do we just find a spot to camp out or what?

[This one did! At least he was leaving footprints though, he could have been odder if he had so chosen.

The reply was timely]

No. There are vacant rooms for you to chose from. Heat will be an issue, but blankets can be made or procured.

[Oh hey, there were the apartments already! ... That was fast, those just seemed to pop out rather quickly. Maybe they were walking faster than it felt.]

[It was fortunate he wasn't. A display like that would make Danny start fingering his thermos, ghost sense or no ghost sense.]

Not as bad as I expected, then. How do I go about getting blankets and supplies?

[He's pretty sure there's a rule against putting billions year old exorcists inside of thermos's. Let him get back to you on that]

Ask for help, I would suggest. As you are new here, it does not matter if you possessed any super human abilities or not. You are now as human as anyone else, and the places that are restocked with food and blankets are also often times swarming with monsters.

There are a few spares within our apartment currently.

[Danny's expressions freezes.]

What do you mean by that? I am human.

[It's hard to tell if that thin smile on his face, as he turns his head just a little to look at the boy, is real, or an illusion made by the markings]

I never said you were not. I merely mentioned abilities. The possession of any super human abilities would make one somewhat more than human in a sense, and so the loss of them would designate one to a normal human status. Would it not?
